Ambre Ciel is a composer and singer from Montreal, Canada, who composes dreamy, spacious and spacious music influenced by contemporary, classical artists as well as the world of Impressionists and American minimalists.
Ambre, who sings both in English and in her native French, comes from a family of singers and artists: “I started learning the violin at the age of six, and later experimented with pedal effects and looping melodies”. This was followed by a course of study with a focus on composition and recording. “During this time, I began to engage more intensively with composing and songwriting – both with the world of sounds per se and with songs that mainly consist of violin and voice. During this time I also returned to my ‘first’ instrument, the piano, which opened up more harmonic possibilities for me.“
Her debut album still, there is the sea represents a beginning, a first and imperfect attempt to create this other world that lived in her head. She has created a beautiful, refined album that leaves a lot of room for string arrangements and other acoustic instruments, as well as for her own beautiful voice.
