Sound Meditation is an artistic project that was created in the spectacular forests of Western Canada. In August 2023, pianist Monika Lozinskienė and pianist Anna Szałucka spent three weeks on an artist residency in Gibsons, BC, collaborating with filmmaker Bruce Devereux and artist Makiko Kitama.Inspired by the mystical artistry of Lithuanian composer and painter M. K. Čiurlionis, whose 150th birthday is celebrated this year, they created a new arrangement of his symphonic poem ‘In the Forest’ for piano four hands. This work and Čiurlionis’ innovative approach to integrating different art forms form the basis of the project. Sound Meditation is a captivating mix of film screening and live performance that is an immersive experience for both the eyes and the ears.

As the duo Piano Phase Project, Monika and Anna reinterpret classical music by conceptually linking it with other art forms such as visual arts, painting, literature and performing arts. Their collaboration with contemporary theatre musicians, jazz musicians, dancers, visual artists and podcasters invites the audience to experience classical music in new and exciting contexts.
