American star pianist Kenny Werner and Scandinavian saxophonist Benjamin Koppel have become musical brothers through their 15 years of frequent musical collaboration. Their duo album WALDEN has been highly acclaimed, as have their long string of other releases, including COALITION with Lionel Loueke and FREEBOP with David Liebman. Scott Colley, known for his work with Carmen McCrae, Herbie Hancock and Jim Hall, has been working with Kenny for ages. Kenny and Jack DeJohnette (known from his work with Miles Davis and Keith Jarrett) have also been playing together for decades. Scott and Benjamin are close friends and musical comrades. Both the duo and their working trio, the KOPPEL-COLLEY-BLADE COLLECTIVE, work together with top drummer Brian Blade. Scott and Jack have often played together, including in the group HUDSON with John Scofield. All in all, these four musicians know each other very well, they are all part of a jazz family that is constantly exploring the possibilities and boundaries of musical expression in the field of what we know as jazz.
