Buddy Defranco (1923-2014) began playing the clarinet at the age of only 9 during the heyday of the gorgeous swing big band jazz led by clarinet players Artey Shaw and Benny Goodman. Until the 20th century, modern jazz performances by the clarinet were popular.In 1966-1974, he was also the band leader of the late great Glenn Miller (1904-1944) Orchestra.
