Charles Owens (born June 6, 1972 in Alexandria, Virginia) is an American jazz tenor saxophonist.
Owens grew up in a suburb of Washington, D.C. He attended the Duke Ellington School for the Arts, and then moved to Miami, where he continued his education at the New World School of the Arts. in 1992 he came to New York and studied in the jazz program of the New School. Since then, he has worked in various band projects, including with Daniel Freedman, Omer Avital (Asking No Permission, 1996), Jason Lindner (Premonition, 1998) and wrote the film music for Fly Trap. He lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. Currently (2019) he leads a trio with Alexander Claffy (bass) and Kyle Poole (drums).
Charles Owens is not to be confused with the saxophonist Charles Owens, who was born in 1939.
