Charlie Watts’ Live at Fulham Town Hall’ captures a remarkable moment in the legendary drummer’s life and shows his long-cherished dream of leading his own jazz orchestra. The performance was recorded one month after the premiere of the Charlie Watts Orchestra in 1986 at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, a historic event that attracted great attention both from the press and fellow musicians. This live album features a big band ensemble made up of some of the best British jazz talent playing a mix of swing era classics and jazz standards. The album features energetic renditions of songs such as ‘Stomping At The Savoy’, ‘Lester Leaps In’ and ‘Robbins Nest’, showcasing the band’s virtuosity and deep understanding of the rich history of the swing era. Charlie is played by outstanding musicians such as trumpeters Dave DeFries, Ted Emmett and Colin Smith; saxophonists such as Ray Premru and Alan Skidmore; Bassist Dave Green; organist Sir Charles Thompson; and vibraphonists Bill LeSage and Jim Lawless.
