A Troubled Man is a musical portrayal of Kurt Wallander, the detective protagonist of Swedish author Henning Mankell’s Nordic noir crime novels.

The ten songs draw from the novels to offer snapshots of his professional and personal life – stake-outs, searches, danger and flight, his relationships with his daughter and ex-lover, his hopes and fears. Together they capture the essence of a flawed everyman whose aspirations and disappointments will resonate with many.

The songs take their musical inspiration from some of the classic film noir scores of the 60s (Lalo Schifrin’s Bullitt, Johnny Mandel’s Point Blank) as well as from the Nordic jazz of Jan Garbarek.
