After Porgy and Bess in 2021, recorded with Pierre-Alain Goualch and André Ceccarelli and Interplay in 2021 with Alain Jean-Marie, crowned “Record of the Year” by the Jazz Academy, Diego Imbert returns to us with an original repertoire, composed to measure for his historical quartet. This quartet for which he had composed successively A l’ombre du saule pleureur (2009), Next Move (2011) and Colors (2015), three albums grouped together in 2019 in a box set also offering an unpublished live album, brings together David El Malek on saxophone, Quentin Ghomari succeeding Alex Tassel on flugelhorn and trumpet and Franck Agulhon on drums.
The original instrumentation of this group, inspired by Ornette Coleman’s first quartet, has the particularity of being without harmonic instruments (piano, guitar), allowing the listener to fill this absence thanks to the melodic lines developed by the four musicians. Numerous concerts during all these years have also allowed this group to develop a very specific sound.
