Music is not a generator of continuously consumed and constantly replaced emotions. The CD is nothing but our interpretation of what we live, of what happens, and of what happens to us. The work is conceived as a fractal; individual pieces are entities with their own structure that then constitute another, larger but identical one. This is the purpose of the two medleys, where pieces from distant centuries intertwine, overlap to constitute a single work, followed by two pieces from the repertoire: Hindemith’s Sonata and Debussy’s Rhapsody, ending with an original piece which, as composer Alberto Napolitano says, “finds its expressive modernity in memory.” In the song, two panels follow seamlessly; melancholy for what has been transforms into energy for the arduous but not desperate attempt to be again. This piece is created with very particular instrumental techniques, in some cases entirely new, which undergo a kind of true transfiguration of a Marin Marais composition.
