The debut album called ‘Blood Red Sun‘ by the Texan trio Elevenwire, consisting of brothers Ron Hughes (vocals, guitar, bass) and Jonathan Hughes (vocals, keyboards), together with Jim Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and the participation of Eric Gillette (NEAL MORSE BAND, TEMIC, etc.) on drums. Nine tracks that move in powerful, melodic progressive rock with a touch of hard rock. It all starts with an ‘overture’, an orchestral introduction with slowly swinging and melancholic violins, which does not really represent the rest of the album, but prepares us for it. For the rest, the album is based on energetic music with addictive melodies, powerful riffs and sharp guitar solos. The most intense pieces are “Zero One”, where hard rock meets dynamic prog, the self-titled “Blood Red Sun”, where the drums form the skeleton for the various musical interventions of the vintage synthesizer (sometimes it reminds me of the band Rainbow), while the guitar clings to the melody that winds in a tangled whirlpool, and not to mention the vocals, which perfectly match the twitches of the numerous themes. The highlight is “Paradigm”, which lasts almost 8 minutes and in which Elevenwire combines all your influences in a multifaceted composition. It starts slowly, goes through a nervous instrumental section, some peaceful landscapes, before plunging into a melodic but powerful climax.
