Fatrin Krajka is an Albanian born award-winning composer, and pianist based in NYC
Praised for his ability to combine the classical ethos with modern minimalism, Fatrin’s work spans across a multitude of genres. From chamber music to film and multidisciplinary artistic collaborations, his musical imprint touches the innermost sensitive to enter a journey of self-exploration, intimacy and stillness.In 2019, Fatrin was invited to arrange and conduct the music of his first-string quartet with the National Opera & Ballet Orchestra of Albania. A year later, he finalized his second-string quartet as well as a new contemporary chamber ensemble work: Zoltavia. Fatrin’s first soundtrack album “Zois” was released in 2017. Soon after he released an EP album “Empire”: A trilogy work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary artists that premiered in NYC at the Totah and Fridman gallery, 2018/2019.
As a film composer, Fatrin recently scored the critically acclaimed NETFLIX short film “HOME” released in 2021. His prior work, “Nocturne in Black” was awarded Gold in the narrative category in both BAFTA LA & the Student Academy Awards 2016. Fatrin also received “Best Score in a Feature” at the Southampton Film Festival (UK) for “Anatomy of the Tide” in 2015. In 2022, Fatrin was commissioned to compose the score of the upcoming feature film “Winter Fireflies”. Fatrin is also a recurring judge at the Brooklyn Film Festival and the International Film Festival of NY since 2017.
As a concert pianist, Fatrin has been performing on numerous international concert stages. In 2005 he gave his Carnegie Hall Debut at Weill Recital Hall as a winner of Artists International “Special Presentation” award and his Merkin Hall Debut in NYC as a winner of “Alumni Winners” Award.
Fatrin was raised in a celebrated family of musicians. His father, with whom he originally studied composition and orchestration, is a renowned composer and songwriter. His mother is a former violist with the Albanian National Orchestra. After the fall of communism in 1992, Fatrin moved to New York, and was subsequently accepted to La Guardia High School for Music and Performing Arts. There, he studied viola and pursued his education in piano. His talent rapidly flourished and led him to study piano performance at the Manhattan School of Music Conservatory.
