Federica Lorusso was born in Bari, Italy in a non-musical environment and since the very beginning of her life she showed a strong artistic inclination, strongly supported by the family.

She started her musical studies as a singer at the age of 12, playing the piano as a secondary instrument. At that time her primary means of expression was the voice. Nevertheless at 17 years old she deepened her jazz piano studies privately, attending lessons with Vito Di Modugno, piano teacher but also one of the best Hammond-organ players in the world, strongly convinced that the piano would have given her more tools of expression.
