Probably written for the virtuoso chapel in Cöthen (BWV 1042) or for the concerts of the Collegium Musicum in Leipzig, which the composer often conducted himself on the violin, the three well-known Bach violin concertos are joined here by the magnificent concerto for three violins BWV 1064, reconstructed from the version for three harpsichords, which is the only one that has been preserved. A real firework under the arches of the outstanding violinists of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra!
