The band was founded in December 2012 by Chris Techritz, Paul Curtis, Maximilian Amberger and Sebastian Michaelis. Techritz and Curtis knew each other from their youth and had already played together in the Vartists project. With Maximilian Amberger and Sebastian Michaelis, two guitarists were recruited. Only the drums remained vacant at first.

In summer 2013, Fudge managed to win first place in the Haix Band Contest and beat several other newcomer acts. As the first-placed band in this competition, the musicians won a studio stay lasting several days, during which four tracks were recorded in April 2014 and later released as singles. The band also self-released their first EP Never Stop Firing, which contains all four recordings.
