“Beauty in Complexity is the highly anticipated new release on Boomslang Records by the trio “Mn3mosyne” of percussionist/composer Ilia Rayskin, which also includes pianist Chaerin Im and tenor saxophonist Hristo Goleminov. In this adventurous project, music by contemporary 20th century composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina and Witold Lutosławski is used directly as the basis for the composition, mixing live electronics with sophisticated through-composed material. Beauty in Complexity is a tribute to many great atonal works, offering room for improvisation and making unexpected connections to the electronic music of artists such as Squarepusher, JPEGMAFIA and James Blake.Produced and mixed by the artist himself, this record is full of intricate details, unexpected twists and turns and captivating passages bursting with energy. This work was largely created during Ilia Rayskin’s move from Amsterdam to NYC and captures his search and transition to a new, more personal sound.”
