Isaac Makhdoomi, a Swiss recorder player with Indian roots, fulfilled a childhood dream in July 2322. Together with the proven baroque specialists from the “Ensemble Piccante”, he recorded five flute concertos, an aria and arrangements of well-known Vivaldi works. In the run-up to the recording, there were three concerts with the programme of the album in north-western Switzerland.Together with the Piccante Baroque Orchestra, which is made up of early music specialists from the Basel music scene, Isaac Makhdoomi took the listeners on a fiery virtuoso sound journey to the Venice of the Venetian “Il prete rosso”. Like no other, Vivaldi helped the recorder to musical heights with his compositions for recorder. Stupendous runs alternate with beautifully sighing melodies, which not infrequently contain a slight hint of the Orient.
