J.C. Lodge, born June Carol Lodge on December 1, 1958, in London, England, is a British-Jamaican reggae singer, fine artist, and teacher. Raised in Jamaica, she developed a passion for R&B and reggae music. Her rendition of Charley Pride’s “Someone Loves You, Honey” in 1980 topped Jamaican charts and became the Netherlands’ best-selling single of 1982. In 1988, her track “Telephone Love” was among the first dancehall reggae songs to crossover into the U.S. R&B and hip-hop markets, leading to a deal with Tommy Boy Records. Beyond music, Lodge is an accomplished painter, exhibiting in Kingston galleries, and has acted in several theatre productions. She also created “Sing ‘n’ Learn,” a series of children’s songs promoting education, which led to a successful television series in Jamaica.
