In January 2010, the producer for the Pro Organo label, Frederick Hohman, joined talents with James D. Hicks, in producing and releasing the very first Nordic Journey recording. Little did they know then how this concept would grow over the next 15 years. As long as conditions permit, this journey will likely continue. In these recordings, many of them double-CD releases, James D. Hicks has brought a greater appreciation for composers from the Nordic lands, with literature spanning over four centuries. An even greater achievement has been Dr. Hicks’ commissioning and recording of new organ music by living composers, ranging from those who are quite young and new to the music scene, to those who have had many decades of experience and renown.
