The program of this album tries to reinvent Jean-Philippe Rameau as an organist: For this purpose, some works from his harpsichord repertoire, especially the more theatrical ones, were given a new life and identity at the organ. The incentive for reinterpreting Rameau in this way was the composer’s own insistence on the practice of making orchestral arrangements of harpsichord pieces (and vice versa): In his understanding, the genres were always fluid. At the organ sits a great of historical performance practice in early music: Edward Higginbottom, who is supported on selected pieces by Holly Teague (soprano) and Felix Higginbottom (percussion).
