The 23-year-old mezzo-soprano from Toulouse, Juliette Mey won the 6th prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium. During the 2023 final which took place on Thursday 1 June in Brussels.
From the height of her 23 years, the Toulouse Juliette Mey already has everything from the greatest. She began her career in music at the Regional Conservatory of Toulouse, where she perfected her cello skills. In 2011, she began her lyrical training by integrating the Master’s degree at the Toulouse Conservatory directed by Mark Opstad. She met her singing teacher Léa Pasquel there. Two years ago, Juliette Mey left her native Pink City for the capital, where she studied at the National Conservatory of Music.The ambitions of the singer are at the height of her talent. Since January, she has been preparing for the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition intended to reward instrumentalists and, from one year to the next, singers and composers in turn. “It’s a competition that you necessarily think about when you study in a higher conservatory. The decision to participate in it is quite thoughtful, we discussed it a lot with my teachers and we concluded that it was a good idea to do it. do to launch a career,” says the singer.
