Kareen Guiock-Thuram “Nina” Tribute to Nina Simone A voice. A familiar silhouette. And for good reason, she is one of the favorite journalists of the French, at the head of the 12.45 on M6 for 10 years. A voice and a familiar figure also in Parisian jazz clubs where she has made her mark since the early 2000s, often invited by her mentor, the master of Caribbean jazz Mario Canonge. A great voice, powerful and silky. Kareen Guiock-Thuram grew up between Cayenne, Pointe-à-Pitre and Paris. At the age of 13, she is already writing songs and publishing her first article. At the age of 19, she is editor-in-chief of a monthly cultural magazine, while continuing her studies until the master’s degree in philosophy. She writes dozens of songs, sometimes sung by others, or by herself, invited on albums. At the same time, her career as a journalist is taking off, she is not only a presenter but also editor-in-chief of M6’s JT, which she presents in locks, natural and luminous. In 2023, Kareen Guiock-Thuram decides to take a break, to move away from the cameras to move towards the public, as an artist. She made the choice to present her album first on stage, in concert, in the temple of jazz, the New Morning. An exceptional voice at the service of an exceptional repertoire, that of Nina Simone, 20 years after her disappearance, with the album Nina (May 5, 2023).
