Leigh Pilzer’s Seven Pointed Star is one of the DMV’s newest jazz groups. The repertory features Pilzer’s arrangements of her own originals and those of other band members, selections from the Great American Songbook, and jazz standards. For this performance the band will include Pilzer on baritone saxophone along with Amy Shook on bass, Sherrie Maricle on drums, Jennifer Krupa on trombone, Ally Hany Albrecht on trumpet, and special guests Hannah Mayer on piano and Ebban Dorsey on alto saxophone. Individually, the musicians are members of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, DIVA, the 3D Jazz Trio, and premier military jazz ensembles. They come together in Seven Pointed Star to bring you an evening of straight-ahead jazz performed with electrifying energy, joy, and stellar musicianship.
