The story of Loverboy resembles that of a Hollywood movie. Despite initial obstacles and rejection, they became one of Canada’s most successful rock bands.

“Working For The Weekend” has been Loverboy’s motto for 40 years and they have been thrilling audiences around the world since their formation in 1979, when singer Mike Reno and guitarist Paul Dean – both veterans of the Canadian music scene – were introduced to each other at the Refinery Night Club in Calgary. In addition to Reno and Dean, Loverboy continues to include founding members Doug Johnson on keyboards and Matt Frenette on drums, while Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve replaces the late Scott Smith on bass.With their trademark red leather pants, bandanas, big rock sound and energetic live shows, the band has sold more than 10 million albums and received multiple multi-platinum awards. Their hits include the anthem “Working For The Weekend” as well as arena rock classics such as “The Kid Is Hot Tonight”, “Take Me To The Top”, “Turn Me Loose”, “Jump” and many more. In 2009, Loverboy were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame and in the fall of 2023 into the Canadian Walk Of Fame.

“Live In ’82” presents one of their most impressive live performances for the first time in high definition. The lovingly restored 16mm films from Paul Dean’s personal archive not only capture the band’s joy of playing and energy, but also reflect the golden era of the 80s: colorful clothes, fancy hairstyles (and headbands!), great movies and great music.
