Max Greger’s musical career began immediately after the Second World War in American officer clubs. Together with his “octet”, the saxophonist played the big hits of American swing music there. At an early age he managed to play with jazz greats such as Woody Herman, Stan Kenton and Lionel Hampton. During the day he played mainly schlager and folk music for the Bayerischer Rundfunk with the Enzian Sextet and in the evening as a Max Greger sextet swing and jazz in the American clubs. He later appeared in the band of trumpeter Charly Tabor and was on stage with Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, among others. During the years of the German Economic Miracle, the Max Greger Orchestra developed into the most sought-after band at dance tournament events. In addition, Max Greger and his orchestra were featured in numerous films of the 50s and 60s. Max Greger and his musicians have toured all over the world to the former Soviet Union and Japan.
