The present recording of the Colombian group Musica Ficta continues with the exploration of a varied catalog of works from the late seventeenth century and the first half of the eighteenth century, from the musical archive of the Cathedral of Bogotá.

Many of them have never been recorded, do not exist in modern editions and required a long and careful analysis of selection and reconstruction.Moderna One of the biggest challenges in the editing and interpretation of the chosen carols was to accept that almost half of the repertoire of the archive is incomplete. This is due to several factors: the decline and eventual rupture of the tradition of the maestros de capilla of the cathedral, already in a frank decline since the middle of the eighteenth century; the War of Independence against Spain and subsequent neglect of everything that recalled colonial oppression; the gradual neglect of the manuscripts that rested in the cathedral; and already into the twentieth century, the civil revolt of April 1948 in Bogotá, where, in addition to the thousands of dead, the city center was looted and burned.
