Lautavara, Finland, and Martinu, born in the Czech Republic. The seemingly unrelated pair are connected by their constant search to find new sources of inspiration and their willingness to free themselves from the “puritanism” of music.Finnish pianist Oli Mustonen will perform “Piano Concerto No. 3” by the two composers on the album with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra under the new principal conductor Daria Stasevska.Lautavala’s Piano Concerto No. 3 is a work from 1994, after his international success with the symphony “Angel of Light” in 1998.It is written in a style that is different from 1969’s No. 1, which pushed the neo・romantic style further, and 1989’s No. 2, which synthesized miscellaneous elements, and is also a symphonic poem with piano obsigert, in which the soloist can direct the orchestra while playing the piano.3 movement works of “Tranquillo”, “Adagio Assai” and “Energico”.The motif of the 1978 song “4 Serenade” written for male chorus, “le dons des reves (Gift of Dreams)”, which first appeared in Baudelaire’s poem “Death of the Poor”, was used as the motif, so the subtitle of “Gift of Dreams” was added.

Eclectic and prolific, Martinou’s Piano Concerto No. 3 is a work with features common to concertos of the Romanticism era.The 1st movement “Allegro” is modeled on a symphonic structure reminiscent of Brahms, with the “afterglow” of Stravinsky’s neoclassicism.”Andante Poco Modelato” in chromatic 2nd movement. The 3rd movement of “Modelat Allegro” reflects the era of 1948, when Czechoslovakia had a political change and the Communist government was established, and the song is closed with a belligerent attitude after Cadenza. It was premiered in Dallas, Texas, in 1949-11-20 by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, led by Walter Hendr, a solo of Rudolf Filkshny who dedicated the work.

The pianist Oli Mustonen [1967-] is also known for his work as a composer and conductor, and his performance with introspection and deep insight brings a fresh sound that can be called “re-creation.”It is a recording of the work of Martinou following 3 cello sonatas with Stephen Isserlis.

Conductor Daria Stasevska [1984-] was born in Kivu, Ukraine. After going through Tallinn, Estonia, I moved to Finland when I was 5 years old. After living in Helsinki for a year, he moved to Tampere, where he began formally studying violin and composition at the Tampere Conservatory. In his 20s, he studied violin and viola at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and was interested in conducting with Jorma Panura at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Leif Segelstam at Sibelius Academy. In 2012, he received a diploma from the Sibelius Academy. In 2019, when he became Chief Guest Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, he conducted the BBC Proms for the first time in front of an audience in London on May 7, and was the conductor of the Last Night of the Proms the following year.He was appointed Chief Conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra for the 2021/22 season.(Import source information)
