Redbone is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Los Angeles, California, and performed funk rock with elements of rhythm and blues, jazz, Latin influences and cage music. One of the initiators of the creation of Redbone was Jimi Hendrix: it was he who suggested to the brothers Pat and Lolly Vasquez, who had previously performed under their own names, to form the first “true Indian rock band” in the USA. The commercial success of the ensemble was brought by three hit singles: “Maggie” (1970), “The Witch Queen of New Orleans” and “Come and Get Your Love” — the third of them in 1974 rose to the 4th place in the Billboard 200 .
In addition, in 1973, Redbone released the single “We Were All Wounded at Wounded Knee” (about the 1890 Wounded Knee Creek Massacre). The song became a hit in several European countries and rose to #1 in the Netherlands; in the USA, it was not only not released, but was also banned on many radio stations.
His version of “Come and Get Your Love” in the style of Euro-reggae was recorded in 1995 by the Eurodance project Real McCoy; the single entered the Top 10 of Canada, the Netherlands, Finland and New Zealand
