After making his debut on the international jazz scene in May 2017 with his award-winning album ‘Bein Green’, which featured world-renowned artists such as Bob Mintzer and Najee, guitarist and composer Roberto Tola has not disappeared from the radar.

That CD was followed by ‘Colors (2020) and ‘Kon Tiki (2021). Roberto received support from Billy Cobham, Michael Lington, Scott Wilkie and Andrea Tofanelli.Now his fourth album has been released, and it is linked to the vibrant energy of his zodiac sign Leo. It contains 9 tracks, which are actually fragments of his life, but also portraits of intimate moments, of a special journey, of places and people that are close to his heart. They are all songs that really happened, converted to music.

At the forefront is the “feel good” single ‘Driving to Madrid’, inspired by a special trip to Spain in 2019, on which Spanish artist Marco Rasa is a guest. You can then hear my friend, the American trumpeter Bill McGee on the soft ‘Marya’, a tribute to Roberto’s mother. ‘Says’ is a cover of al Jarreau, followed by the sunny ‘Sun Kiss’.

The twenty-one-year-old Argentinian pianist Luciano De La Rosa is a guest musician at ‘Valle della Luna’, a place on his island of Sardinia that is dear to Roberto. Then he covers Al Jarreau’s ‘Roof Garden’, because that artist is one of his favorites. Saxophonist Eric Marienthal and Polish bassist Maciek Szczycinski are guests on the swinging jazz rock of ‘Men
On Groove’, followed by ‘Sunny Morning – Summer Party’. This sunny track is sung by Zorina Andall. Roberto closes with ‘A Christmas Ago’, again sung by Zorina Andall, and in memory of his late sister Tiana, who died on Christmas Day in 2021.

An album with different music styles, with jazz, funk, progressive fusion, with some jazz rock and Latin jazz. All facets of Roberto’s personality. And definitely recommended for those who love smooth and contemporary jazz!
