Digitally remastered! A modern Jazz classic for the legendary Saba Label. Rolf Kühn-clarinet & bass clarinet, Joachim Kühn-piano, Karlhanns Berger-vibes, Bab Guérin – bass, Aldo Romano – drums. Produced by Joachim Ernst Berendt. Recorded January 19, 1967, at Studio Hamburg.
Before my brother Joachim left the GDR in 1965, I often played music with his Trio in Leipzig, we also made recordings for the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk. Even an Amiga LP (Solarius) was created back then. But Transfiguration became our very first joint record “in the West”. Joachim Ernst Berendt had the idea for this LP at a free Jazz meeting in Baden Baden. He brought Joachim and me together with Karlhanns Berger, Bab Guérin and Aldo Romano to play modern with Free Jazz elements in the original Benny Goodman quintet line-up (clarinet, Piano, vibraphone, Bass, drums). Throughout his life Berendt was in search of sounds, Jazz was very closely connected to spirituality and freedom for him. Through his death, not only the jazz world has lost an important personality.
