Rudolf Buchbinder is firmly established as one of the world’s foremost pianists and is frequently invited by major orchestras and festivals around the world. An acclaimed interpreter of music from the classical period, his comprehensive repertoire also encompasses numerous 20th century compositions and has been a recording artist for over four decades now resulting in a vast catalogue of more than 200 releases. Amongst them, Sony’s release of the entire 32 piano sonatas by Beethoven, that was awarded the prestigious ECHO Klassik prize.
Buchbinder conducts the Staatskapelle Dresden from the piano for this new album featuring two of Mozart’s most famous and loved piano Concertos. During an exceptionally productive period in 1785, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart finished his Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K. 466, his most overtly dark, dramatic concerto, and the joyous Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467 within the space of month.
