There is something about the vibe, the sound of the album that just speaks to me. It is not as abrasive as some of her heavier works. There is still a storminess in her words and the guitar work is just as layered and immersive but this a dimensional piece of songwriting that sounds inviting even if it is dark and melancholic. The frayed quality in her voice is apparent even if there is an undeniable prettiness in her sighs, a yearning for something more, something resembling a plea for understanding, reconciliation or closure. This is a masterpiece, I fear.
