Tomoaki Baba to release a new album! Tomoaki a saxophonist who is currently attracting attention in the Japanese jazz scene, who played the saxophone of the main character in the animated film “BLUE GIANT”. Major debut album with BIGYUKI as co-producer. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, he worked in New York and was also a member of the band “J-Squad” with Takuya Kuroda and others. After returning to Japan, he is a saxophonist who will play the main character, Dai Miyamoto, in the animated film “BLUE GIANT” to be released in 2023, attracting a lot of attention. His major debut album (3rd overall) is a work by a new electric project with BIGYUKI, a keyboardist who is active across genres and on the world stage, as co-producer. All of the songs on the album are original songs written by Baba specifically for this project, and the chemical reaction with BIGYUKI creates a powerful and edgy sound that predicts the future of jazz. Recorded based on a trio arrangement of saxophone, keyboard, and drums. Part of the trio alongside Baba and BIGYUKI is Korean drummer JK Kim (RM of BTS, Aaron Parks Little Big), who, like BIGYUKI, is based in New York. Depending on the song, ermhoi, Weedy Brimer’s Sase Yusuke, and Koganemaru Satoshi also participate. The track “WHAT IS ??” was mixed by the US electric hip-hop/jazz unit Big Gigantic.
