Expect lots of surprises in this final batch of our Furtwängler digital retrospective! This release includes various recordings from off the beaten track, notably the only testimony of Furtwängler’s talent as a composer that he himself put on record (an extract of his piano concerto with his friend Edwin Fischer as a soloist), as well as his monumental recording of the slow movement of Bruckner’s seventh symphony, and a previously unreleased test recording of the Emperor Waltz, at the tempo required by the conductor.
