Born on March 10, 1984 to a guitarist father and an artist mother, Armel Dupas grew up in an environment particularly conducive to art and music.

Lulled from an early age by the records of Miles Davis or Duke Ellington, it was at the age of 5 that he learned his first piano chords with his cousin as well as his first songs thanks to his brother and his father. Around the age of 12, he met the Nantes jazz pianist Jean-Marie Bellec (creator of the Jazz Department of the Conservatoire de Nantes), whom he considered his mentor1.

Initially inspired by artists such as Wes Montgomery, Eddy Louiss or Stan Getz, he listened as a teenager to Bill Evans or Keith Jarrett1.

After a first cycle of studies in economics at the University of Nantes, Armel Dupas finally turned to music in 2004. From 2005 to 2009, he was a student of the jazz and improvised music class of the Conservatoire National supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP)2.
