The direct line between Finland and the USA. The common denominator: the love of handmade soul and rhythm&blues and the producer duo Cold Diamond & Mink (Sami Kantelinen and Jukka Sarapää). These gentlemen not only run the Timmion Records label in Helsinki (Nicole Willis, Myron E. etc.), which has been going on for years, but are also active with the Soul Investigators themselves. In the coming weeks, we can expect a new album from New York vocalist Carlton Jumel Smith on Timmion, who will throw “Devoted To You” into the soul ring in advance. Naturally meets in the middle – competent vocal range with classic bass meets a very solid sound background, including softly rolled horns and a flowing midtempo beat. And while Carlton was making his way to Scandinavia, Bobby Oroza, who grew up in Helsinki, has now taken the opposite direction and is releasing his very own soul style with the well-known company Big Crown Records, which is known to be based in New York. “Sweet Agony” is of course interwoven with the special Oroza melancholy – the guitar plays the thoughtful notes with which Bobby can effectively underline his vocals. Beautiful, “Sweet Agony”. And of course we would like to point out once again that Cold Diamond & Mink are responsible for the above-mentioned music.
