Tartini’s violin school in Padua was so international in scope that it became known as the “School of Nations.” For over 40 years, his students returned to their countries of origin, spreading a significant cultural heritage. France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands are represented here, as is the mid-18th-century taste for virtuosity and lyrical expression, infused with Tartini’s stylish and often splendidly ornamental techniques. Volume 1 (jpc 3431486) of this edition has been admired for its “exquisite violin playing” (American Record Guide) and “thoroughly recommended” by Fanfare.
