On Friday 7 April, “Roots”, the debut album by Enzo Turriziani – first trombone of the Wiener Philharmoniker – will be released in physical format and on all streaming platforms – which for its project has chosen to be supported by the Italian Army Band, one of the most representative realities of the Italian band tradition both nationally and internationally. The album, on the doKumenta Music label and physical and digital distribution by TAG, consists of five works that see the trombone as the undisputed protagonist, whose expressive and virtuosic potential emerges in a varied and heterogeneous collection that includes compositions not only by repertoire such as the concert by Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov, undoubtedly one of the most authoritative pieces for trombone, but also arrangements and original pieces such as the Elegy, fruit of the pen of Filippo Cangiamila, director of the Italian Army Band since 2019.Roots” blends together different experiences and retraces from work to work the stages that have marked the artistic career of the first trombone of the Wiener Philharmoniker, from the beginning to the precocious career in the most important orchestras of the current musical panorama. The presence of the Band of the Italian Army in the accompaniment is therefore the result of a very precise choice that is linked to Turriziani’s very first approach to music, which took place at the age of five precisely in the village band, and to underline the importance of this experience in its formation, the ensemble that perhaps reflects the maximum expression of the Italian band tradition and its social and cultural value was called to collaborate.

“With this album I have the opportunity to enhance the repertoire for trombone and band, no less important than others, and to make the Italian tradition known in the world, a tradition from which I come and to which I am deeply attached.” (Enzo Turriziani).

Simultaneously with the recording of the disc, the Getzen Company, a historic US company specializing in brass, launched the 4047ET Custom Reserve, its new tenor trombone, the result of a long collaboration with Enzo Turriziani with the aim of recreating the ideal sound imagined by the musician on the instrument. of the Vienna Philharmonic, whose signature the new model bears.
