Lucio Battisti, la batteria, il contrabbasso eccetera (Lucio Battisti, the drums, the double bass etc.) is an album by the Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. It was released in January 1976 by Numero Uno. The album was Italy’s third best selling album in 1976.AllMusic Review by Mariano Prunes
Lucio Battisti released eight albums and 17 singles between 1969 and 1974, so that the two-year wait before 1976’s La Batteria, Il Contrabbasso, Eccetera was both unprecedented and indicative that the singer was beginning to ponder future directions. For the time being, Battisti decided to put a halt to the growing experimentation of his most recent albums and, fresh from a trip to the U.S., sought inspiration in contemporary African-American music. Indeed, most of La Batteria, Il Contrabbasso, Eccetera attempts – not always successfully – to place Battisti’s vocal mannerisms and Mogol’s texts into a disco/funk background. Still, it turned out to be another resounding commercial success for Battisti, led by the year’s biggest-selling single, “Ancora Tu”/”Dove Arriva Quel Cespuglio.”
