Mathei Florea New Grounds is an eight-member Berlin based modern-nordic jazz band. When combining standard jazz quartet with strings it becomes a musical delight – a mixture of modern jazz and classical music. The founder and leader of this group is a talented pianist Mathei Florea. Compositions are greatly inspired by Petros Klampanis and Arvo Pärt.Mathei Florea New Grounds is rather a new group founded in Berlin on winter 2019. The band brings together young aspiring musicians: Mathei Florea (EST),Sophia Delling (SWE), Cristina Cazac (MDA), Philine Höhnisch (GER), Kornelia Jamborowicz (POL), Björn Atle Anfinsen (SWE), Conrad Steinhoff (GER), Johannes Metzger (GER). Berlin’s art scene has definitely enraptured and inspired all the musicians. It is the city where they all met and also recorded their music.

On April 2020 the band published their first tune “Notched trees” together with a live video. The band went on to record their first album at the Jazzanova studio located in Berlin during 2022, and it is scheduled to be released in the winter of 2024. In May 2023 they released their first singel of their upcoming album “Snap”.
