Not only is this Opus 5’s fifth Criss Cross album, but Seamus Blake (tenor saxophone), Alex Sipiagin (trumpet), David Kikoski (piano), Boris Kozlov (bass) and Donald Edward (drums) have released more than 30 albums in total under their respective names with the label
The five musicians, who all knew each other from the Mingus Big Band, first got together in 2010 to play non-Mingus music, but their band name refers to Mingus’ composition “Opus 4.”
