Come ‘Riding On The L&N’ with a hot band whose progressive rock / blues was a hit during the R&B boom. 4CDs & 1DVD of unreleased & unheard Steamhammer material from 1969 to 1972. 4 hours of recordings restored and mastered by Eroc. Includes interviews with founding member Steve Davy as well as Louis Cennamo and Steve Jolliffe. The 32-page booklet includes unseen photos and an extensive essay by Chris Welch.Steamhammer was formed in 1968 in Worthing, Sussex, by vocalist Kieran White and bass guitarist Steve Davy. After arriving in London, the band was joined by guitarist Martin Pugh and later by Martin Quittenton. Their progressive blues-rock style and original material, driven by drummer Mick Rushton, proved an instant hit with club-goers and festival audiences. “Junior’s Wailing,” a hard-hitting “rock me baby, all night long” number, sold well, and they subsequently became in high demand for television and radio shows and toured Germany regularly, where they were especially popular

This 4CD and DVD collection features Steamhammer at concerts and on TV shows such as the legendary Beat Club Germany in superb sound quality. From 1969 to 1972, we witness the band’s changing lineups, including appearances by Steve Jolliffe (saxophone and flute), drummer John Lingwood and U.S.-born singer Bruce Michael Paine

On Disc 1 we hear four great tracks televised by the Beat Club in 1969 and 1970, as well as their performance at the 1969 Pop & Blues Festival in Essen, Germany. Disc 2 features performances in Frankfurt and Cologne, while Disc 3 shows Steamhammer hitting top form in Mannheim, Germany in 1971. Disc 4 features Steamhammer at London’s famous Marquee in July 1972.

Steamhammer Live features brilliant improvised versions of tracks from their albums MK II, Reflection (aka Steamhammer), Mountains and Speech, while the DVD offers the chance to see and hear the band perform in a variety of settings, and includes a short documentary from the 1970 German television program Hier und Heute and a special performance on French television from 1969.
