With her new guy. In such a situation, only one thing really helps: whistling a happy song. And pretend that nothing had happened.
It’s exactly this light-hearted whistling that begins with “Ghost,” the Warner debut single from garage rock duo The Kiez, consisting of Hamburg producer and drummer Lucas Kochbeck and former frontman US band Eagle Seagull Eli Mardock. “If you want to find me / In the corner of a bar in St. Pauli / Heavy heart, you were dead to me / Had to do this for my sanity”, this outlines the setting in which the above Described unfolded now. About a casually grooving, Black-Keys-esque vibe, he tells a story of the heaviest lovesickness and painstaking free-swimming – so much so that the situation in a corner bar is actually not much more than a ghostly appearance: “You’re just another girl Mardock sings, “I’ve seen a ghost,” sings Mardock captivating good background harmonies, warm vintage organs and humming basses.
