Californian ‘Kosmiche Tropicale’ duo Wet Satin (comprised of former Lumerians members Jason Miller and Marc Melzer) are today releasing their new album ‘Wet Satin’.

Taking a step away from brain-frying space-rock/psych wig-outs harnessed in their 15 years playing together in Lumerians (who broke up in 2020), the duo describe Wet Satin as “An expression of reverence and enthusiasm growing from a long-time shared obsession with lost Cosmic Disco, Cumbia, Afrofunk and Library Music records.” They add: “We wanted to make something fun. Not too serious, but not frivolous either. Something that paid respect to its influences by adding a square to the quilt rather than trying to make a replica.”Miller says of the new track: “Rainbow Glint is definitely a summer song. To me it starts off sounding like Angelo Badalamenti spaced out on White Claw at the end of one those impossibly long July days before the sun goes down. The percussion break in the middle really came out on a whim, but we couldn’t get it feeling quite right. We borrowed these jingle bells our friend had brought back from Egypt and then we went into a percussion shop in Grass Valley and played everything in there until we found a bunch of shakers and other noisemakers that pleased us tonally, but it still wasn’t quite right. So we sent the track to Luis of The Soft Moon who we used to play with in Lumerians and he added strange baby sounds and a cowbell solo which sort of tied everything together.
